NINOW100 at The MAC
‘The Party Party (A Complete History of Parties in NI (1921-2021))’
The Party Party is a collection of memories of parties - no, not the 'petition of concern' kind - the 'dancing till 3 a.m.' kind!
The Party Party (A Complete History of Parties in NI (1921-2021)) by Emily DeDakis stars Libby Huntley, Ruby Campbell, Thomas Finnegan and Cailum Carragher. This series was produced by the MAC, Belfast, Directed by Colm G Doran, with sound and music composition by Constance Keane and live recording by Damian Hughes and Ian Jordan.
‘A History in Numbers’
A History in Numbers deals with the passage of time and the changes that it may or may not bring. It picks at the political, artistic and inter-relational threads that were woven into Emma's experience of one element of change; the decriminalisation of abortion in Northern Ireland.
Starring Libby Huntley, Ruby Campbell and Rachel Murray. This series was produced by the MAC, Belfast, Directed by Colm G Doran, with sound and music composition by Constance Keane and live recording by Damian Hughes and Ian Jordan.

‘Through The Window’
‘Through The Window’ lets you enter a world where you can experience the idiosyncratic thoughts of these everyday characters, as they reflect on memories, regrets, hopeful dreams and the deepest of secrets.
Created during COVID-19 to reflect the imposed disconnection in our lives, it interrogates the ways in which disconnection has always been between us physically, emotionally, mentally or socially.

SEE YOU
Written in response to the callout by No Touching Theatre (aptly named during COVID) for short ten minute plays, with one to two characters. I decided to look at disconnection, because of the lockdowns we were living through and I thought the situation of an awkward run-in between two ex’s would provide that. I’ve always been fascinated by the notion that people can go from holding very intimate places in your life to being relative strangers, and yet no matter how far away from those people you may be - they still have an in-depth knowledge from a certain period of your life and there’s no escaping that. Plus I thought it might be funny!

“For years theatre has been made from page to stage, so we have decided to conduct an experiment.
We created a piece of physical theatre in just 3 days and got 3 writers to put a narrative to our work.”
- Three’s Theatre Company
When Anna (Artistic Director of Three’s) asked me was I interested in writing a narrative to a dance piece that she hadn’t yet created - I was more than nervous! But what an experience it was. I was given the theme of ‘Memory’ and once the dance piece was devised.
I was invited, along with the other writers, to watch the piece (whilst wearing noise cancelling headphones so as not to hear the music the dancers were moving to.) Then I had to put some kind of ‘meaning’ onto the movement I was watching that should connect to ‘memory’ - it was thrilling to witness images and stories unfolding in my mind just from experiencing the artists ‘random’ physicality, like looking up at the blurred shapeless clouds in the sky and suddenly seeing obvious images begin to appear.
What was fascinating about each of our experiences as writers, and this was echoed by reviewers, was that we each wrote the only story/stories we could see happening, we couldn’t imagine any alternative narratives making sense and yet our stories were completely different in tone, style and setting. And for the audience, whichever story they heard while watching the piece was the only story they could ever imagine fitting the movement.
